North Bossier Growth
The Road and Subdivision Committee of the Bossier Parish Police Jury held a lengthy meeting Wednesday. North Bossier commercial and residential development was once again a hot topic. With the expected addition of 5,000 new houses and 10,000 additional vehicles in the area, a study revealed that seven roads will need to be widened. The jury is considering the project's scope and how to fund it.
The parish highway department has patched potholes on 61 roads and a number of sinkholes in the past month.
A public meeting will be held on February 18th at 3pm at the Bossier Parish courthouse for citizens and interested parties to discuss the parish's growth issues.

Now Open – New Recycling Compactor Ready for Use
The Bossier Parish Police Jury, Keep Bossier Beautiful, and the Bossier Sheriff’s Office are announcing the new recycling compactor that we previously reported on is now open and ready to use.
Recyclers can now bring their cardboard and paper recyclables into the 40-yard container located on the hill just behind the Bossier Courthouse. The new compactor and container replaced the five dumpsters that were used for several years. Those bins cost Bossier taxpayers nearly $8,000 a year to be emptied weekly. Parish officials believe the new compactor will increase recycling capacity and save taxpayer dollars on recycling. The compactor was purchased with a $20,000 donation to KBB.
Remember, only paper and cardboard products are allowed to be recycled in the compactor. Trash is not allowed.
